Emily went to the National Institute of Health Clinical Center for a clinical trial treatment in August of 2003. They had hoped that transplanting her sister Alex's bone marrow would give her the ability to battle off the cancer. It was a time filled with anticipation, hope & optimism. Emily responded to the treatments and for a time felt better than she had at any point during the fight. During the six months that the folks at NIH cared for Emily the nurses and doctors were wonderful and caring. Emily got her puppy Toby while at NIH. ♥
