PAST - Annual Scholarship Award Program (discontinued after 2015)
The Goal: The mission of the Emily Davis Memorial Scholarship Foundation is to keep Emily's giving spirit alive. Her selflessness and intuition gave her the unique ability to embrace the human spirit. Emily's memory will be rekindled yearly by recognizing a Centennial High School student who closely resembles her qualities.
The Scholarship Award: $2,006.00 made payable to the institution that the chosen recipient will be attending in the Fall of the year it is awarded The cash award is made for use to offset tuition, books and other fees associated with continuing education beyond high school.
The Process: The scholarship award shall be made using these guidelines. Beginning in 2006 and continuing each year, for 10 years the Foundation reviewed nominated students and considered for the award. To be eligible a student must attend Centennial High School and be in the current year’s senior or graduating class. To be eligible a student must be planning to continue their education beyond high school. Each department at Centennial High School (English, Math, Art, Drama, Guidance, etc.) should meet as a group by March 15th and nominate at least one and up to two students who they think exemplify the qualities cited in the Foundation’s mission statement. Each nomination should be accompanied by a completed nomination application form and a one page endorsement of the student nominee. All of the nominations should be submitted to the CHS Guidance department by April 30th. The Foundation’s scholarship committee will review the Nomination Applications and endorsements and make an award decision prior to the Centennial High School Senior Awards ceremony. The Scholarship will be awarded at the Centennial High School Senior Awards ceremony.
